Here's the story:
Kissena is a relatively short par 64 public course in Flushing, Queens. In terms of public transportation, it’s not the most convenient place to play. If you have access to a car, it’s great. With eight par-threes and zero par-fives, Kissena is ideal for golfers who aren’t long off the tee. To give you an idea, the longest hole is the par-four third, a dog leg left, that measures 417 yards from the back tee. Don’t be fooled by the lack of distance, this course can be tough. Kissena does offer unique challenges, like many uphill shots off the tee, and elevation changes throughout. Have we mentioned the rough? We’ll call them thick and treacherous here, but we have much more colorful names for them when we’re there.

We play this course pretty frequently and it has never been too crowded.  A foursome of average to below-average golfers (read: certain of LPNYCers) can play 18 holes in under four hours. The clubhouse is nothing spectacular, but has nice bathrooms and decent food that's a step up from the gnosh found at most concession stands. We recommend the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. It’s worth repeating that driving is the best way to get to Kissena.
